Firefighters struggle to contain California wildfires

(NBC News) Wildfires continue to rage out of control in California.

6,000 firefighters across the state are 12 major wildfires. In all 87,000 acres have burned this year.

Hardest hit so far is the small town of Weed, where an estimated 150 homes and other buildings were destroyed by the flames.

The entire town was briefly evacuated, but residents have since been allowed back in to survey the devastation.
