Big E attraction keeps smartphones going

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Visitors to the Big E do not need to worry about their phones running out of power, thanks to a new offering at the fair.

The “E-Hot Spot” at the Big E provides a chance for fairgoers to re-charge their phones, without having to go back to their cars. The service is free of charge.

Catherine Pappas of the Eastern States Exposition told 22News that they realized this kind of service is necessary, particularly for younger fairgoers who depend on their smartphones.

“We realized our fairgoing public was getting younger and younger. We still had our regular people but we wanted to attract a younger crowd, everybody’s on social media,” Pappas said.

The E-Hot Spot also provides the chance to win prizes and to stay in touch with the Big E through social media.

It is located in the Young Building, next to the 1964-65 World’s Fair exhibit.
