WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– The “Great New England State Fair” is opening its gates for the 98th year!
The Eastern States Exposition, better known as the “Big E,” is North America’s fifth largest fair. Some of the fair’s attractions that have people coming back year after year include the state buildings, where you get a taste of some of the highlights of each corner of New England.
There’s also The Big E Mardis Gras Parade, the rides, the Better Living Center, the shopping, and the wide array of food: everything from a cheeseburger with a glazed doughnut for the bun, to the famous Big E Cream Puff.
Gates are open from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. every day, and general admission for adults is $15, $10 for children between ages 6 and 12, and free for children 5 and under. There are several discounted days and special price options, included $6 tickets after 5 P.M on Monday through Thursday evenings.
On Friday, opening day, veterans get in for free with your military I.D. in honor of Military Appreciation Day. Also on opening day, it’s “Be a Kid for a Day” day, so everyone will get in for the children’s admission of $10.
