AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Medical Examiners continue to investigate the cause of death of Marissa Jackson. Her body was found in Amherst earlier this week.

In a statement sent to 22News from the First Assistant D.A. Steven E. Gagne, the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to determine the official cause of death for Jackson.

The body of 26-year-old Jackson was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area near the intersection of Amity Street and University Drive in Amherst. She had been missing since Friday, September 5th.

Gagne said no life-threatening injuries were found during the post-mortem examination, and toxicology results are pending. He said, “Jackson’s death does not at this time appear to be criminal in nature, and there is no reason for the public to be concerned about its safety.”
