Chicopee police officer allegedly caught in bed with 17-year-old

A Chicopee police officer has been placed on administrative leave

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Chicopee police officer has been placed on administrative leave after a restraining order was filed against him.

Chicopee police told 22News police officer Michael Gendron is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. 43-year-old Gendron is being investigated for having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

Attorney Daniel Kelly, who’s representing the parents of the teen, told 22News the young woman’s mother found Gendron and her daughter in bed together. The teen, who is 17-years-old, told detectives the relationship has been going on for some time.

Now detectives are trying to figure out if it happened before she turned 16. In Massachusetts, 16 is the legal age of sexual consent.

A restraining order now prevents Gendron from going near the teenager’s home, school and workplace. Gendron was a Detective, but is no longer assigned to that unit, pending the investigation.

The Chicopee District Court Clerk’s office could not provide 22News the documents of this case because it involves a minor.

22News will continue to follow this case as more information becomes available.
