CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Another entertainment legend lost. The woman who made a remarkable impact on the comedy world died Thursday at the age of 81.

Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest last week during a routine medical procedure. She died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Rivers was the first woman to enter the late night talk show world. She’s also known for her show “Fashion Police” on the E! Network.

Western Massachusetts residents told 22News they’ll miss her distinct, raspy voice and sense of humor. Kathy Jesionowski said, “I think it’s kind of sad because her and her daughter, they were always on her talk show, the award shows and stuff, always made you laugh.”

Over in California, mourning fans have placed flowers on Joan Rivers’ star on Hollywood Boulevard.
