GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Preparations are underway for the Franklin County Fair. 22News tells you what you can expect this weekend if you head to the fairgrounds in Greenfield.
Expect to see new rides and entertainment and some old recipes at the Franklin County Fair. Many fair vendors started to set up Tuesday, and they will continue until Thursday.
On Thursday, a 2 hour parade starts downtown and ends at the fairgrounds.
This year the fair is trying something new with “Franklin County’s Got Talent”. There will be a $400 prize for first place. They hold a truck pull on Saturday, and Sunday night is a demolition derby. A lot of new events, but the fair brought back the Robins Church Apple Pie vendor and some more animals will be in the barns. The Boy Scouts will also be camping out to show off their skills.
Fred Steiner, President of the Franklin County Agriculture Society, told 22News, “You’re going to see something that is really attractive out here and some new rides for the little kids too. They should have a nice little kiddy ride along with the rides for the big kids.”
One of the new rides is the “Air Racer”, and another called “Speed” that stands about 110 feet tall.
