Amherst P.D. respond to 400 calls over weekend

29 people charged with various crimes

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a very busy holiday weekend for Amherst Police.

Amherst police Lt Ronald Young told 22News The Amherst P.D. responded to almost 400 calls from Friday to Monday night.

The calls ranged from fights, assaults, burglaries and property damage. 29 people were charged with various crimes.

A man and a woman told police someone shot them in the legs with an air rifle on College Street Saturday night. Their injuries were not serious.

Police believe a dark SUV seen driving away may be involved.
