CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Apparently, Pierce Brosnan’s brief stint as James Blond didn’t quite prepare Brosnan for his role as the hard boiled CIA super agent they call “The November Man”.
Brosnan’s embroiled with international intrigue, CIA skullduggery and playing mentor to his up and coming replacement who doesn’t quite appreciate Brosnan’s sage advice.
Veteran spy thriller director Roger Donaldson keeps Brosnan on his toes. The action plot moves at a swift pace, even if the super spy competition begins growing slightly weary after awhile.
It’s only when cynical CIA corruption comes into play involving a sinister Russian war criminal that “The November Man” really sizzles.
The picture’s got Inspired moments providing the look and feel of a first rate thriller.
Who needs to be James Bond, when Pierce Brosnan’s found himself a more perilous persona? “The November Man” will find an audience looking for plenty of action, and willing to reward this intense thriller with 3 stars.
“The November Man” ends the summer movie season on a high note, and not just because a superspy adventure just happens to be my kind of movie.
