CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Let’s go back to those devious days of yesteryear, when tarnished good guys lusted after deceitful women and tried outsmarting shrewd, corrupt criminals.
It’s all there in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”. A nostalgic comic strip style that no longer exists, except in “Sin City”. Josh Brolin plays the muddle brained private detective. He’s fair game for the conniving dame to kill for, played by Eva Green to perfection.
“Sin City” is just teeming with outrageous characters filled with anger, like the almost unrecognizable Mickey Rourke.
“Sin City” is a dangerous place that only comes alive in the night, where hotshot gambler Joseph Gordon-Levitt foolishly thinks he’ll get the best of sadistic criminal Powers Boothe, whose really scary in this sort of role.
As you can imagine, even a comic strip “Sin City” is no play for the kids. Not with the sex, violence and over the top dialogue with malice as its driving force. “Sin City’s” the perfect getaway for an audience that still remembers the hard boiled film noir characters from the 1940s and 1950s.
The trip back to a treacherous fantasy world is a journey worth picking up an easy three stars. Get ready for a fascinating trip through the dark side, and don’t trust anyone.
