SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A local group in Springfield is working to make Riverfront Park a cleaner, safer place for families. 22News visited the park Saturday during the Resurrection Center’s clean-up project.
You could see not only the park area, but the water itself was littered with garbage and debris. However, organizers say three years ago, when the clean-up initiative first started, the park was actually in much worse condition.
They told 22News over the years, more and more groups have created similar initiatives, which has helped drastically improve living and safety conditions.
Coming up on 22News at 11pm, 22News reporter Juliana Mazza will show you firsthand some of the things she uncovered underneath the surface of the Connecticut River at Riverfront Park.
