Police chase in Springfield ends with an arrest

Officer heard 6-7 shots fired

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 20-year-old man is in custody Friday for shooting off a gun in the area of James Street and Walnut Street Thursday.

It all started when a police officer, who was directing traffic on Queens Street, heard 6-7 shots being fired. The officer called for back-up.

When Nicorie Adams, the man in custody, saw officers approaching him, he ran. Officers said they saw Adams throw his gun on the ground during the chase. The chase didn’t end until Atwood Place where they handcuffed him.

Officers recovered the .22 caliber firearm Adams had thrown on the ground during the chase.

Adams Faces Following Charges: 

  • Carrying a firearm without license
  • Possession of ammo
  • Discharging a firearm
  • Parole warrant

Adams will be arraigned today, Friday, in district court.
