CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It was unwelcomed news Thursday when several Chicopee children were informed that they would have to go to schools in a different city.
Chicopee’s School Superintendent’s office has decided to allow students on Kirby and Wolfe Streets to attend public schools in the City.
Thursday night, 22News talked to parents who had been notified by Chicopee schools that, because they pay taxes to Springfield, they’d have to attend Springfield schools even though their address is technically in Chicopee.
On Friday, Chicopee School Superintendent Richard Rege Jr. changed that decision but added it’s an issue they’ll revisit at the end of the school year.
