Montague man arrested for indecent exposure at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – After a weeklong investigation, police have arrested a suspect who allegedly performed a sex act in front of women on the UMass Amherst campus.

According to the UMass Amherst PD, around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Christopher M. Williams of Montague was arrested for two counts of Open and Gross Lewdness. Williams was arrested without incident.

On Wednesday, August 20th, Williams is accused of driving his gold Honda Civic into UMass Amherst parking lots and exposing himself while masturbating in front of two female UMass students at two separate times during the day.

Williams was arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Thursday, August 28th. The Greenfield Police Department assisted in the arrest.

UMass Amherst Police Chief John Horvath praised the work of the investigators, “Officers had very limited information at the outset of this investigation and only after their exhaustive work were they able to zero in and identify this person. It was critical that we moved swiftly and remained diligent in this case to prevent a continuation of the activity or an escalation of his behavior.”
