VIDEO: Rescue mission underway for F-15 pilot

No communication with the pilot since the crash

DEERFIELD, Va. (WWLP) – Police in rural Virginia are working to find the pilot of an F-15C Eagle from Barnes Air National Guard base that crashed in a mountainous, wooded area Wednesday morning.

Emergency officials are searching both on-land and in the sky. As of 2:00 P.M., Col. James Keefe of the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes said that it is unknown whether the pilot ejected from the plane prior to the crash, and that there has been no communication prior to a report of an in-flight emergency shortly after 9:00 A.M.

The crash site is very remote, and there is no cell phone service in the area, Keefe said.
