BOSTON (WWLP) – A “World Class Millions” scratch-off ticket will set you back thirty-dollars, but it seems like many are willing to trade in the high price tag for a chance to win big.
The Massachusetts Lottery’s most expensive scratch-off ticket is drawing millions, not just in ticket sales, but also in revenue for the state.
The “World Class Millions” tickets have generated $259 million dollars since its launch back in April, beating out eight other states that also began selling thirty-dollar tickets.
“The reason why people like our lottery is that the prize pay-outs are the highest of any state in the country. They know that they have better odds at winning and better prize pay-outs when they do win,” said Mass. Treasurer Steven Grossman.
So far, only one person has won the top prize of $15-million dollars, but the game does offer a unique “second-chance” program.
Players can enter their non-winning tickets for a chance to win up to $1 million dollars.
Money generated by the Massachusetts Lottery goes right back into cities and towns as local aid, so everyone wins in one way or another.
