Voters meet with candidates at public forum in Springfield

More than 200 voters attend the forum

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A large line-up of political candidates had a chance to tell hundreds of Springfield voters why they should elect them.

The Forest Park Civic Association hosted a Candidate’s Forum Tuesday night at the Forest Park Middle School. More than 200 voters came to hear the candidates for State Senate, State Representative, and District Attorney state their stand on the issues.

It was an opportunity to put faces to the names on the political signs. “Seeing who the candidates are. I only know a few of them.  This gave me a chance to see all of them, and it’s a tremendous group of candidates. Publicly spirited. Publicly dedicated people. I was enormously impressed,” Tim Oppenheimer said.

Voters will narrow the field of candidates during the state primary two weeks from Tuesday.
