Drug arrest after I-391 chase in Chicopee

roll overCHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Police arrested a man on drug and other charges after the driver rolled his truck on an Interstate 391 off-ramp Monday night.

State Police Sgt. Brian Gladu of the Springfield Barracks told 22News that troopers attempted to pull the truck over for speeding, but instead, it sped up and drove away.

The truck rolled over as it attempted to get off I-391 southbound at Exit 3. The roof of the cab was crushed in. “He took the ramp a little too fast and rolled over,” said Sgt Gladu. “He was trying to evade us.”

roll over drug 2The suspect suffered “very minor injuries,” according to Sgt Gladu. He got out of the wrecked truck and State Police placed him in handcuffs. A 22News crew saw police searching the truck, and finding suspected contraband.

32-year-old Greg Griffin of Connecticut was charged with possession of heroin and several motor vehicle violations. He’ll be arraigned in Chicopee District Court Tuesday.
