Girl pulled from Cape Cod swimming pool dies

YARMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — One of two young sisters who were pulled from an indoor swimming pool on Cape Cod last week has died.

The girls, ages 9 and 12, were visiting the area with their family from New York. They were pulled last Wednesday from the deep end of the pool at the Bayside Resort.

Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos told the Cape Cod Times ( ) that the department was informed over the weekend that the 9-year-old had died. The 12-year-old remains hospitalized in Boston.

The swimming pool had been inspected Wednesday before the accident, but police said the hotel did not have a staff member on duty trained in CPR or water safety.
