WELLESLEY, Mass. (AP) — The town of Wellesley has lifted a boil water order that was issued after a positive test for E. coli.

Since Thursday, residents and businesses had been instructed to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking or using in food preparation or for other purposes.

Officials lifted the order on Saturday after saying the water system had been extensively flushed and further testing had turned up no further signs of bacteria.

The original positive E. coli test came from a location near the Pierce Hill Reservoir. The town says water samples from the reservoir itself did not test positive, but the facility has been taken off line for further inspection and cleaning.
