CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Only in the fantasy teenage romance, “If I Stay” could a super cool high school rock star fall madly in love with a serious girl who plays the Cello.
They’re in danger of drowning in the antiseptic suds generated by this overdone tear jerker.
Their Idyllic culture clash is soon interrupted by a tragic traffic accident leaving her in a coma, and leaving us trying to swallow the reality of her other self (out of body) following all of the tear drench developments.
Granddad Stacy Keach couldn’t stand by watching Chloe Grace Moretz giving the film’s only decent performance.
Make no mistake, “If I Stay” cares less about her Cello playing and her breathing tube than
it does wowing the teen audience with the most typical of adolescent foreplay.
Luckily Jamie Blakley, her Cello loving boy friend can get down and sob with the best of them.
I guarantee 17 year old Chloe Grace Moretz will live to make better movies. She’ll have to if this talented teenager will live up to her potential as a major movie star.
“If I Stay” will do for now. Somewhere In between all of the tears, you’ll find this picture earning only two stars.
Halfway through the picture, the audience starts asking “If I Stay”, will this picture get any better? The answer is no.
