Forest Park’s party with the animals gala

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a party with the animals Sunday night in Forest Park in Springfield.

The Barney Carriage House was the place to be for dinner and music. The event transported people to the themed era of the roaring 20’s.

People drank their speakeasy cocktails and swayed to live jazz alongside critters from the park’s zoo. They were brought in by zoo staff and volunteers. The event also featured a silent auction. Tickets cost $100 each and the money went to benefit the many programs of the Zoo at Forest Park.

Kasja Jarry, Gala Co-Chair, told 22News, “I think having such a wonderful resource in the middle of the city is encouraging to a lot of our area schools and kids in Springfield who can walk or take a short drive and visit the zoo and they’ve always got new thing happening and we’ve got so much support.

The money helps to take care of the animals when the zoo shuts down in the winter.

22News was proud to be a media sponsor for the gala and 22News reporter Juliana Mazza served as Sunday night’s emcee.
