AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The first Western Massachusetts Shriners parade in 15 years attracted an enthusiastic crowd in Agawam on Saturday.
Each year the Shriners have their parade in a different part of the country where they support children’s hospitals and burn centers.
They marched the several miles from the Agawam junior high school to the high school.
The large crowd cheering the Shriners meant a lot to members of the Melha Shriners who support the children’s hospital in Springfield.
“It shows us the support the Shriners have in the Springfield and western Massachusetts, pioneer valley. It’s heartwarming we do this for,” said James Spears.
The enthusiastic crowd of onlookers left no doubt concerning their support for the people who for years have supported Shriners hospitals in Springfield and throughout the country.
