WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A Louisiana man has been charged in connection with a body found on a Massachusetts highway last month.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said 50-year-old Nicandro Velasquez, of Haughton, Louisiana, was arraigned Thursday in Woburn District Court on charges of leaving the scene of a death and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The body of 54-year-old Cliserio Cordova Ferral, also of Louisiana, was found July 26 in the roadway on Route 128 in Burlington.
Investigators say Velasquez and Ferral were driving to Maine for work when Ferral fell out of the truck. Instead of seeking help, prosecutors allege Velasquez continued driving.
A truck matching the description of one seen in Burlington was later found in Orland, Maine.
Bail was set at $4,000 for Velasquez. It wasn’t known if he had retained an attorney.
