Springfield police investigating shots fired in 2 locations

No one hurt in Liberty Heights, Six Corners incidents

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police received multiple calls early Thursday night of reported gunfire in separate sections of the city.

Officers collected evidence on Phoenix Street in the Liberty Heights neighborhood just before midnight, where there was a report of shots fired. Officers were not there for very long, however.

Lt. Thomas Maccini told 22News that their shot spotter activation system picked up the noise of gunfire in the Six Corners neighborhood shortly afterward, at around 12:30 a.m. There were also multiple 911 calls from concerned residents of the neighborhood.

Lt. Maccini said that a house at 11 George Street had bullet holes in it when officers got there. A black Saturn car reportedly sped away from the area after the gunshots were fired. No one was hurt, and police are still investigating these incidents. It is unknown whether they are related.
