SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A number of classrooms now have school supplies thanks to some generous healthcare workers.
Hundreds of Baystate Medical Center employees went shopping for back-to-school supplies to help area schools. On Tuesday, staff members delivered plastic storage bins full of supplies, to be sorted and distributed.
Sharon Ralls, principal of the Lincoln Elementary School in Springfield, told 22News it will be helpful to families that struggle to pay for supplies.
“This is really going to be a great resource for them. They’re busy buying uniforms and other items. Sometimes materials for schools are the last things they think of, and what a benefit this is for our students,” Ralls said.
Baystate Medical Center call this their “Adopt-a-Classroom Initiative”. They have been doing it for several years now.
