SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Workers fixed a broken water main on Provin Mountain in Agawam Sunday night, which means the water restriction for five communities has been lifted.
Since Thursday, the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission asked residents in Springfield, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Agawam and Ludlow to limit their water usage. Still no word on what caused the break.
(Did it impact what you did over the weekend, whether its water or lawn?) Jack Griffin of Longmeadow said, “It had no effect on it whatsoever.”
Joyce Mulvaney of the Springfield Water & Sewer Commission says the city’s blackboard connect system placed 57,000 calls notifying homes and business of the water situation, but there are many people who haven’t signed up to receive those alerts.
