Backpacks delivered to students in need

Westfield High School's Key Club collected nearly 300 backpacks

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Back-to-school backpacks were delivered Monday to students in need all across the Springfield area.

Westfield High School’s Key Club started the fundraiser, and collected nearly 300 backpacks.

The backpacks are stuffed with school supplies for students of all ages.

“We got 295 stuffed backpacks. So far, we’ve handed out to about 11 families. And it’s awesome, it’s really rewarding to stand there and see everybody and how happy they are to get the supplies,” Caleigh Rockwal, a member of Westfield High’s Key Club, said.

The event “Project Backpack” was held at the Salvation Army in downtown Westfield.
