Over-30 baseball league championship in Forest Park

Season began in late April

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – “You’re only as old as you feel” could well be the motto of the Valley Wheel Baseball teams of Western Massachusetts.

During Sunday afternoon’s championship game at Forest Park between the Angels and the Athletics, there wasn’t a player on the field under 30. Some were well over 60.

58-year-old Jim Nason told 22News, over-30 baseball brings him a lot of pleasure.

“The camaraderie, a good bunch of guys, we have a lot of fun hanging out together,” said Nathan. “It’s a great alternative to softball.”

They’ve played one game each week since their season began in late April. Everyone on the field we spoke with looks forward to the start of the new season next April.
