CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – Hollywood makes so few delightful movies for the older audience, that when they do, It’s usually a satisfying, warmhearted comedy like “The One Hundred Foot Journey”. Helen Mirren charms her way through the role of a French restaurant owner in the south of France.

She’s got an uncompromising passion for perfection. Her world goes into a tailspin when an Indian family opens their own restaurant barely one hundred feet away.

Bollywood star Om Puri proves to be a worthy adversary, especially when his son becomes the star chef in Mirren’s kitchen. If you’ve got an appetite for gentle, sophisticated humor with a stylish touch, “The One Hundred Foot Journey” is more than worth the trip.

It’s an enjoyable journey flavored with just enough wisdom for a fulfilling experience. Just as the over fifty crowd has waited long enough this year for a feel good film to appeal to their more mature taste buds.

In spite of being a bit too lightweight for my taste, “The One Hundred Foot Journey” has enough good stuff to cook up an old fashioned 3 stars.

Judging by the mood of the crowd the night I saw the film, “The One Hundred Foot Journey” hits the spot.
