SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – These are tough times for many people here in western Massachusetts. St. John’s Congregational Church in Springfield helps ease that need with social service programs like Saturday’s clothing and furniture giveaway in the Church parking lot.
Reverand Kenneth Young told 22News, “We definitely see a need everywhere. We have our food pantry that we serve from 12-5; we serve a hot meal on Wednesdays at four o’clock. We see people every week so this is something we can put together sort of a big thing to serve the community at large.”
St. John’s depends on church members who can afford to donate used furniture and clothing to help their neighbors in need.
