Taunton man stabbed friend 12 times

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A Taunton man was taken into custody after police said he stabbed his friend 12 times during an altercation in the city.

David Blackwell, 42, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and assault with intent to commit murder and was ordered held.

According to Taunton Police Lieutenant Eric Nichols, officers responded to Whitehill Street just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to find the victim suffering from numerous stab wounds. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and it looks as though he’ll survive, Nichols said.

The cause of the altercation remains under investigation, but police said it appears to be over a woman.
