LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – One person was treated for injuries after a single-car crash and fire on I-91 southbound in Longmeadow. State Police Trooper David Podworski told 22News that the accident happened near the 1.8 mile marker, which is about halfway between Exit 1 and the Connecticut state line.

Podworski said that the driver of the SUV involved in the crash was treated at the crash site by EMTs. Sgt. Alan Joubert told 22News that the driver’s injuries were only minor.

Trooper Podworski said that the SUV was engulfed in flames when Longmeadow firefighters got there.

The crash backed up traffic for about a mile, and took more than an hour to clear. It happened as traffic was backed up on the northbound side of the highway, due to a tractor trailer crash at the Longmeadow Curve.
