Rains leave airport swamped

BALTIMORE (WBAL) Heavy rain soaked much of Maryland Tuesday, flooding low-lying areas.

A record rainfall at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has led to flooding at the airport’s parking lots and nearby roads.

BWI-Marshall spokeswoman Whitney Kidd said the rain was not affecting air traffic, but there was some flooding on surrounding roads, and some parking lots had flooded.

Officials said the flooding at the long-term parking lots was an unusual circumstance as dozens of vehicles were partially submerged in flood water.
