SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The tax free shopping weekend is just a few days away. The City of Springfield has assured potential shoppers that the Boston Road construction won’t get in the way.
Shoppers have been promised complete access to the stores, but the construction has already impacted back to school shopping at the Eastfield Mall.
Nicole Sweeney, the Eastfield Mall marketing manager, told 22News, “Anyone who’s out there looking for sneakers and backpacks is going to want to avoid construction.”
Melinda Graulay, the Eastfield Mall general manager, said, “We knew there was going to be hiccups we knew there were going to be headaches. “Now with the sales tax weekend coming up they’ve really been working to coordinate with us, it’s been great.”
The City has assured Eastfield Mall of a construction lull during the holiday season. They’ll finish up the sixteen month road improvement project in the spring.
