Investigation into fire on railroad bridge

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire started on the tracks of the railroad bridge between Holyoke and Chicopee overnight.

Holyoke Police Lt. Larry Cournoyer told 22News that firefighters were called to the fire, which started on the trestle over the Connecticut River around midnight. It didn’t take long for firefighters to extinguish the flames, but they are still trying to figure out how it started.

The train tracks are not in use, but the railroad police were notified.
