What is the future for the Catholic church in WMass?

Residents poured out to meet Bishop Rozanski on Tuesday.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – About an hour after Bishop Mitchell Rozanski was installed, hundreds of people turned out to see the new Bishop at the Eastern States Exposition.

22News took a look inside the Better Living Center in West Springfield, which was packed for Rozanski’s reception Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Hundreds of residents from across western Massachusetts lined up to meet Rozanski and shake his hand.

With the new Bishop for the Springfield Diocese, many people are excited to see what, if any, changes could be coming along with him. 22News spoke to residents who were at Tuesday night’s reception ceremony in West Springfield.

Tom Lachiusa from Longmeadow said he hopes to see the bishop get involved in the community and work to strengthen the idea of family. He told 22News, “It’s such a difficult time we have so many things putting pressure on so many families, tearing them apart, and our faith can really help us put things in perspective.”

Rozanski told 22News he’s been invited to attend a number of events and will now be able to start working some of them into his schedule.
