CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – I’m telling you, not since the heyday of the disaster epic craze back in the 1970s, has a movie about mass destruction been as overblown as “Into The Storm”.
A team of storm chasers travel up and down tornado alley in search of their big thrills. And end up getting much more than even they bargained for. A little less special effects and a little more story and character development might have prevented the movie from ending up in shambles.
We might have become more Involved with their catastrophic predicament If only we recognized anybody in the cast of unknowns embarrassed by their ludicrous dialogue.
And when the frantic high school principal urges his students to take cover under the bus, we’re reminded that this lame melodrama has succeeded in throwing the audience under the bus.
The character include a couple of Beavis and Butthead coke heads who just love chasing tornado. And when on storm chase remarked, “we’ve got to get out of here”, that should been the cue for the audience to get up leave.
Since they’ve already felt the full fury of this awful film. “Into The Storm” just might set back movies of mass destruction by another forty years.
The eye of the storm carries the destructive force of one star. And when “Into the Storm” finally blows over, there may not be anyone in the studio to pick up the pieces.
