Springfield man arrested for trying to sell gun

20 year-old Ricardo Baez arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – 20 year-old Ricardo Baez was arrested by Springfield police on Thursday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. for attempting to sell a shotgun.

suitcasewshotguntakenbypodgurskiSgt. John Delaney told 22News Lt. Tardiff and the “Street Crime Unit” received information that Baez was trying to sell a shotgun to “anyone” who would purchase it. Officers got a call that a Hispanic male in his early 20s with a suitcase wearing a Chicago Bulls jersey was standing near the CVS at the “X”, approaching people to make the sale. Officers arrested Baez and confiscated the suitcase, where they found a 12 gauge shotgun and 29 shotgun shells.

Baez was arrested for possession of ammunition and a firearm without an FID card, and improper storage of a firearm.

Baez will be arraigned on Friday, August 8th.
