High speed car chase begins in Amherst, ends in Hadley

Driver is in the hospital; will face several charges

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A high speed car chase began in Amherst and ended in Hadley early Friday morning.

Amherst Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, a 20-year-old man from Holyoke, sped up, and continued driving through Hadley. He reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.

The chase ended when the driver drove into a utility pole in the area of Russell and West Streets in Hadley. The driver was taken to Baystate Medical Center.

He will face several charges including operating with a revoked license and refusing to stop for a police officer.
