NORTHAMPTON, Mass.(WWLP) – It only took Northampton police detectives six hours to arrest the prime suspect in an afternoon bank Robbery on King Street.

Northampton Detective Lt. Alan Borowski told 22News a man passed a note to a teller at the Freedom Credit Union at 2:45 Thursday afternoon and made his getaway on a bicycle. The teller handed several thousand dollars over to the robber.

The State Police helicopter and dog team were unable to locate the suspect, but detectives were able to track him down and arrest 53-year-old Michael Lucey in a West Springfield motel.

Lt. Borowski said they were waiting for a search warrant and expected to recover at least some of the cash from that Riverdale Street motel room. Lucey’s been charged with unarmed robbery and larceny over 250 dollars.
