Fisherman swept away by waves, killed

JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The body of a man was pulled from the water off of Hull Cove in Jamestown on Wednesday morning, police confirmed.

According to Jamestown police, a 58-year-old fisherman from Massachusetts was on the rocks on the east side of the island when he was swept away by the waves.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released. He was with a couple of friends when the incident happened, police said.

His body was recovered and is being transported by the medical examiner.
