Gas leak in Springfield under control

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The gas leak at Federal and Lincoln Streets in Springfield has been capped.

Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, Dennis Leger, told 22News a  construction worker hit a 2” gas line by accident around 10:15 a.m.

The gas leak resulted in three buildings having to be evacuated on the Springfield Technical Community College campus. Those three buildings and Federal Street are back open. There is still some repair work that needs to be done.
