AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Agawam was among the western Mass. communities observing the “America’s National Night Out Against Crime.” Agawam Police hosted the event at Agawam High School Athletic Fields.

The Agawam Night Out combined both serious and fun features. They had free hot dogs, soft drinks and a dance presentation. Instructions on proper child car seat installation, a photo booth with child ID kits and free document shredding to help prevent identity theft, were also included Tuesday night.

Daniel Muldrew of Agawam said, “Going to see the concert tonight. Just glad to see all the police coming out; having kids check out all of the equipment. All of the events.”

“Because anything can happen in real life and we all need to be prepared,” said 11 year-old Delaney Brown of Agawam.

Agawam Police also partnered with private businesses that focus on home security and safety.

More than 10,000 communities across the United States participated in “America’s National Night Out Against Crime” Tuesday.
