9 homeless after Bosworth Street fire

It took 45 minutes to control the fire

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Nine people are homeless after a house fire on 88 Bosworth Street in West Springfield.

The call to the fire department was made Tuesday morning at 6:33. “When we got to the site, there was fire blowing out of the front of the building,” said Deputy Fire Chief, Steven Manchino.

Manchino told 22News that one firefighter injured his back while trying to cut a hole in the roof of the house for ventilation. It took 45 minutes to control the fire. The second floor of the house was badly damaged by the flames.

William Rando, a victim from the fire, told 22News, “We lost everything. It’s sad, we’ve been here 7 years.”

The nine people who are now homeless were not injured and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
