Car crashes through guardrail, falls 40 feet onto tracks

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A serious late-night crash in Fall River sent a car off the road and onto the train tracks below.

The vehicle involved in the crash failed to make a turn, plowed through the guardrail, and fell approximately 40 feet to the ground. The Mercedes-Benz was believed to be traveling on Ponta Delgata Boulevard but didn’t make the right turn onto Ferry Street when it slammed into the guardrail.

The train tracks were overgrown with weeds and not believed to be in service.

According to the Associated Press, two people were injured. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
