BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — The Massachusetts National Guard this weekend has honored a soldier who has served with the Guard for 38 years.
Sergeant First Class Mary Reilly Callahan has served in several National Guard units in medical and human resource potions, including tours in Iraq and Kuwait during an operation that ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
Reilly-Callahan was presented with separate certificates of appreciation from President Barack Obama and Governor Deval Patrick during an award ceremony Saturday afternoon.
She is also received a Meritorious Service Medal during the ceremony attended by her family and friends at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford.
