Holyoke K-9 turns on officer

The officer suffered a serious leg injury and was taken by ambulance to Holyoke Medical Center.

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Police dog was confined to his holding cage this afternoon after reportedly biting a Police officer who works with the dog.

Ryker the police dog, who was introduced to the public last year, is said to have turned on the K-9 unit officer at the K-Mart plaza on Route 5 late this afternoon.

Police Lt. Manuel Reyes told 22News that the officer suffered a serious leg injury and was taken by ambulance to Holyoke Medical Center.

Lt. Reyes said they’re now waiting for the arrival of the state police dog trainer.
