Springfield concert brings awareness to street violence

More than a dozen entertainment artists offered their talents

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Stopping Springfield street violence, that was the goal of an awareness concert called, “Live Another Day.”

The concert was at Basilica Place Downtown on Bridge Street. More than a dozen entertainment artists offered their talents by performing live.

People told 22News they’ve set out to change the culture of violence that too often claims or ruins young lives.

“I’m just trying to get the word out that we have to save our own community. We can’t just sit around and wait for someone else to do it. So if there’s thing going on in the city you need to help law enforcement. Get crime out of your own city,” said Gina Belvin.

Gregory Shaver told 22News, “This is our city and these are the young people doing this. At the end of the day, we may not be able to make a change but we can make a stand.”

The concert featured not only live music but also guest speakers and poets.
