Police Lt. Larry Cournoyer told 22News that an officer spotted the fire in the alleyway behind 291 Elm Street around 2:30 A.M. Holyoke Firefighters were there within minutes, and had the flames put out in a short time.

The owner told officers that he had just parked the car and had no idea it had a problem.

All that was left of the Saab wagon was an empty, charred-out shell. Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
